Exhibitions & INSTALLATION

When I do an art show, I don’t like to just hang my work on the wall and call it a day. I’d rather haul everything I own that relates to my work and pile it up like a shrine, adding a seemingly infinite capacity for context and interpretation.

This instinct came to its natural conclusion in my most recent solo show Almagest at Whitespec (the Whitespace Gallery project space).

In my two previous solo exhibits, Bootstrap Paradox and Archeomancy, at Beep Beep Gallery (RIP), I was able to display quite a bit of found ephemera but hadn’t completely realized what I could do with this aspect of my work conceptually.

When possible, I try to bring a taste of my inclination for objects to any group show I participate in. One of my go to devices is to include a small collection of books that relate to the work in someway, as you see below in installations from Notch8 Gallery and others.

Currently looking to show more work outside of Atlanta. I’m interested in contributing to group shows related to collage, science fiction, mysticism, etc. Please contact me with relevant exhibition opportunities!

"A bootstrap object exists without a creator. This is the crux of all Germon’s collages. The use of the Penrose Triangle and Michelangelo’s sculptures serve the same purpose for Germon as M.C. Esther’s drawing of two hands drawing each other. Michelangelo’s famously described his process of sculpture as simple matter of freeing the subject from the surrounding pieces of marble. Germon simply finds his “bootstraps” in thrift store books rather than marble." —Sean Mills via The Examiner
